Troubleshooting
Strava reconnect, no tiles after an import, the login link in spam and other common problems.
Strava asks to reconnect
A red dot next to Settings or “Reconnect” on the Strava card means Strava rejected our access. Common reasons: you revoked access in Strava, Gridhunt moved to a new Strava app, or you want rides from the app sent to Strava, which needs write permission.
- Open Settings → Connections.
- Press “Reconnect Strava” (the orange Strava button) and confirm on Strava.
- New rides start to arrive again. Nothing you uploaded as a file or ZIP is lost.
My Strava rides disappeared
That is expected: rides fetched through the Strava API are kept for 7 days. Upload your archive ZIP to keep them permanently: see Import.
No tiles after an import
- Wait a few minutes. The map says “Counting your tiles” until the numbers are ready. A long Strava history can take hours, and the ZIP is faster.
- Check the year bar. Choose “All years”, or the year of the ride.
- Check the test mode. A banner “Test mode: rides hidden up to …” means part of your history is hidden on purpose. Press “Turn off” in the banner, or open Settings → Advanced.
- GPS needed. Activities without GPS and duplicates are skipped.
- Uploads limits: a ZIP can be up to 5 GB, a GPX, TCX or FIT file up to 50 MB.
- Still empty after an hour? Report a problem with the ride’s date.
The login link is not in my inbox
- Look in spam, promotions and quarantine, and search for “Gridhunt”.
- The link is valid for 15 minutes and works once. If it expired or you already used it, request a new one.
- Use the same address each time. Another address means another account.
- On an iPhone the link may open in the browser. If you are not taken back to the app, open the app and sign in again.
- “An account with this email already exists”: sign in with the email link, then add the other method in Settings → Profile and plan.
- A message about the Strava account limit means the beta spots are full: join the waiting list on the beta page.
komoot, Garmin and the planner
- komoot rejected access: press “Reconnect” on the komoot card and enter your password again.
- Pairing code expired: it works once and for a few minutes. Generate a new one in Settings → Connections.
- Planner: no route found: move the start or finish closer to a road or mark a smaller area. If the routing engine is unavailable, try again shortly.
- The planner is locked: it is a Premium feature, and an upgrade card appears. See Plans and payments.
Live ride
- “No location permission”: allow location for Gridhunt in the iPhone settings.
- Watch and phone out of contact: both keep recording, and the ride merges when they meet again.
- Empty route list: press “Sync” in the Ride sheet, and check that Strava or komoot is connected.
