Terms of service
Version of 29 September 2026 (in force from the day of publication)
This is a translation. The Polish version is the binding one; in case of doubt it prevails, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights in your country.
1. Service provider and contact
Gridhunt is provided by:
- Rafał Wasil, sole trader operating as WASIL RAFAŁ
- Address: ul. Rezydencka 11, Grzepnica, 72-003 Dobra (Szczecińska), Poland
- Tax ID (NIP): 8512906989 · REGON: 320846551 · registered in the Polish Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG)
- Help and complaints: support@gridhunt.app
- Data protection: privacy@gridhunt.app
- Electronic delivery address (Poland): AE:PL-37059-17121-TTEWJ-25
In these terms we call the provider “we” or “us”. We reply in Polish and English, usually within 2 working days. support@gridhunt.app is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under Articles 11 and 12 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).
2. Definitions
- Gridhunt, the Service: the website at gridhunt.app (formerly gridhunt.rafalwasil.com), the iPhone and Apple Watch apps, the Connect IQ apps for Garmin devices, the Hammerhead Karoo extension and related interfaces (devices API).
- User, you: a person who has created a Gridhunt account.
- Consumer: a natural person entering into a contract not directly related to their business or profession. Polish law also applies the consumer rules on withdrawal, conformity and unfair terms to a sole trader when the contract is not of a professional nature for them (Article 385⁵ of the Polish Civil Code).
- Tile: a cell of the OpenStreetMap map grid at zoom level 14 or 17; square: the largest solid square of claimed tiles.
- Free plan, Premium: the plans described on the pricing page; Subscription: the Premium contract for a month or a year, renewed automatically.
- Integration: a connection between your Gridhunt account and another company’s service or device (e.g. Strava, komoot, Wahoo, Garmin).
3. What Gridhunt is
Gridhunt is a tile-hunting tool. From the routes of your activities (rides, runs, walks) we work out which map tiles you have visited, show your largest square, targets and progress, help you plan routes through unclaimed tiles and, on selected devices, show the tile grid live while you ride.
Activities reach Gridhunt through your Strava connection (the Strava API), from files and archives you upload (GPX, FIT, TCX, ZIP, including an account export from Strava or Garmin Connect), from the Gridhunt iPhone and Apple Watch apps (Android in the future), from devices (Garmin, Hammerhead Karoo) and from other connected services (e.g. komoot, Wahoo). The available Integrations are listed in Settings; some of them (e.g. Garmin Connect, Suunto, COROS, Polar, Ride with GPS) may still be in preparation or waiting for the partner’s approval.
Social features (friends, the square leaderboard, helping others in the planner and public share links) only work when you turn them on or use them. See the privacy policy for details.
4. Technical requirements
- An up-to-date browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) with JavaScript enabled and an internet connection.
- An email address or an account with a sign-in provider (Strava, Apple, Google, Facebook).
- Mobile app: an iPhone with a current version of iOS; watch app: an Apple Watch paired with the iPhone. Connect IQ apps: a compatible Garmin device and the Garmin Connect app. Karoo: a Hammerhead Karoo that supports extensions.
- Integrations require an account with the service concerned, and its terms apply as well.
5. Your account
You enter into the contract for the Free plan by creating an account (signing in for the first time) and accepting these terms. The contract is free of charge and runs for an indefinite period.
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- One person, one account. You may not sell or share your account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure (your email inbox or your Strava, Apple, Google or Facebook account). If you suspect someone has access to your account, contact us.
- Give us a real contact address: we send sign-in links and important service information there.
6. Rules of use and safety
Safety first. Gridhunt is a game, not a race. Obey traffic rules and local restrictions, and don’t enter private, military, protected or closed land. Don’t operate your phone or bike computer in a way that distracts you in traffic. Planner routes and tile information (e.g. “impossible”) come from OpenStreetMap and from users. They may be outdated or incomplete, or lead through dangerous or inaccessible places. Check the route yourself before you go.
You must not:
- upload activities you did not do, fake GPS tracks or otherwise cheat on the leaderboard;
- upload content that is illegal, infringes other people’s rights (e.g. someone else’s photos, or images of people without their consent) or is offensive, e.g. in your display name or photos;
- scrape data automatically, overload the Service or probe its security without our permission, or bypass plan limits and restrictions;
- use Gridhunt in breach of the law or of the terms of connected services (e.g. the Strava API Agreement).
7. Your content and reporting illegal content
Your activities, photos and other content remain yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process and display them only as far as needed to provide the Service. For example, we use them to count tiles and show you your map (video reels are created on your device and never reach us). If you turn these features on, we also use them to show selected data to friends, on the leaderboard or via a public link. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies in backups disappear as the backups rotate.
Reports of “impossible” tiles, and the comments and photos attached to them, are visible to all signed-in users together with your name and avatar. Photo metadata (EXIF, e.g. where and when the photo was taken) is not removed. Only add photos you have the rights to, and don’t show identifiable people without their consent. When you delete your account, your reports and comments remain anonymously (without your name and avatar) because they help other users; your photos are deleted.
Notices (DSA). If you believe any content is illegal, report it to support@gridhunt.app. Include where the content is (a link or description), why you consider it illegal, your name and email (unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material) and a statement that you are reporting in good faith. We will confirm receipt and handle the notice without undue delay. We will tell both the reporter and the author about our decision and the reasons for it. You can appeal by replying to that message. Moderation is done by a person, without automated decision-making. We may remove or hide content that breaks the law or these terms, and suspend accounts for serious or repeated violations (section 17).
8. Integrations with other services
You turn on an Integration yourself by signing in to the service concerned and granting access there. You can disconnect it in Gridhunt Settings or in that service’s settings. We only retrieve the data Gridhunt needs, e.g. activities with their routes.
Gridhunt is not affiliated with or endorsed by Strava, komoot, Wahoo, Garmin, Suunto, COROS, Polar, Ride with GPS, Hammerhead, Apple or squadrats.com. Names and trademarks belong to their owners. Integrations depend on these companies, which may change or switch off their APIs; an Integration may then stop working, temporarily or for good. We will try to offer another way to add activities, such as file upload.
Strava data and public features. Activities obtained through the Strava API and the tiles calculated from them are shown only to you: they don’t count towards the square leaderboard, friends don’t see them, and they don’t appear in your public link or in community aggregates. We show other users results calculated only from your other sources (uploaded files and archives, recordings in the Gridhunt apps, devices, other connected apps), and only if you turn this on. If you want your Strava history to count publicly, export your account archive from Strava and upload the ZIP file; activities from the archive replace the same activities obtained through the API. When the same ride arrives from several sources we keep one copy, and the Strava API has the lowest priority. In public you appear under the display name you set in Gridhunt, not your Strava name. Details: privacy policy.
Keeping Strava data. We keep activities obtained through the Strava API for at most 7 days after they were fetched, unless you import the same activity yourself (a ZIP archive or a file) or record it in the Gridhunt app. Deleting an activity on Strava removes only the copy obtained through the Strava API, never a copy you uploaded yourself.

9. Plans: Free and Premium
The Free plan costs nothing and has no time limit. Premium unlocks extra features, namely the square planner, the route planner, navigation along a planned route (iPhone, Apple Watch, Garmin) and live tiles on Garmin and Karoo devices. The current plan contents and prices are on the pricing page. You are bound by the scope and price shown at the time of purchase.
You buy Premium as a monthly or yearly Subscription. The contract is concluded when you confirm the order on the payment page. You will receive a confirmation of the contract and a receipt by email.
Premium is a digital service supplied continuously throughout the paid period. You can use it on all devices connected to your account.
10. Payments, taxes and receipts (Stripe)
Premium payments are handled by Stripe through Stripe Managed Payments. The payment is accepted and settled by the Stripe group company Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”), acting as merchant of record. Link:
- takes your payment (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link and other methods offered on the payment page); your payment to Link settles the price of Premium;
- calculates, collects and remits the VAT or other sales tax due in your country;
- emails you confirmations, receipts and invoices (from a Link address), as well as reminders before a trial ends and before renewals;
- provides support for the transaction itself (support.link.com) and handles payment disputes (chargebacks).
Your bank statement shows the payment as “LINK.COM* GRIDHUNT” (or similar). On the payment page you also accept Link’s payment terms (link.com/terms). We provide Premium and we are responsible for its conformity with the contract. You can exercise your withdrawal and complaint rights by writing to us or to Link support.
Prices and currency. The payment page always shows the amount to pay, including taxes, before you confirm. Prices for consumers in the European Union include VAT. Stripe may offer to charge you in your local currency at Stripe’s exchange rate; you can also pay in the currency of the price list. If you pay in local currency, renewal amounts may vary slightly with the exchange rate. Your bank’s fees (e.g. for currency conversion) are outside our control.
Failed payment. If a renewal fails, Stripe will retry and notify you by email. You keep Premium during a short grace period. If payment does not succeed, your account returns to the Free plan and your data stays.
We do not store card numbers. Only Stripe sees your payment details. We see the subscription status, amounts, country and receipts.
11. Free trial
- Your first Premium subscription starts with 30 days free. The trial is available once per person and account.
- You provide a payment method at the start, but nothing is charged. Before the trial ends, Link will remind you by email about the upcoming payment.
- If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing and Premium stays active until the trial ends.
- If you don’t cancel, after 30 days the Subscription becomes paid for the period you chose (month or year) and the first payment is taken.
12. Renewal, cancellation and price changes
Renewal. The Subscription renews automatically for another period of the same length. The fee is charged at the start of each period to your saved payment method until you cancel.
Cancellation. Cancel any time, without giving a reason, in Settings → Plan → “Manage subscription” (Stripe portal) or in your Link account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Until then you keep Premium; after that your account moves to the Free plan and no further fees are charged. We do not refund the unused part of a period unless the law requires it (e.g. withdrawal, complaints) or section 17 applies.
Changing plan. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing. Before you confirm, we show from when the change applies and how much you will pay.
Price changes. We may change the Premium price for valid reasons: higher costs of running the Service (hosting, payments, partner APIs), inflation, tax changes or a significant expansion of features. We will email you about a price change for an existing Subscription at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to. The new price never applies to the current paid period. If you don’t agree, cancel before the renewal, at no cost to you.
13. Right of withdrawal (consumers)
If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from the Premium contract within 14 days of concluding it, without giving a reason and at no cost, except as explained under “Immediate start” below. Just send a clear statement, e.g. an email to support@gridhunt.app or a request to Link support marked “cooling off period”. You can use the model form below, but you don’t have to. You meet the deadline if you send your statement before it expires.
With a free trial. The contract is concluded on the day the trial starts, so the 14-day withdrawal period ends before you pay anything. Cancelling during the trial also costs nothing.
Immediate start. If you buy without a trial, Premium starts at once if you expressly request this on the order page. If you then withdraw within 14 days, we refund what you paid minus an amount proportionate to the time Premium was active until your withdrawal (Article 14(3) of Directive 2011/83/EU; Article 35 of the Polish Consumer Rights Act). We show the wording of this request and acknowledgement at purchase and include it in the order confirmation.
We refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving your statement, using the same payment method (via Stripe/Link). Premium ends when you withdraw.
Model withdrawal form: “To WASIL RAFAŁ, ul. Rezydencka 11, Grzepnica, 72-003 Dobra (Szczecińska), Poland, support@gridhunt.app: I/We(*) hereby give notice that I/We(*) withdraw from my/our(*) contract for the supply of the Gridhunt Premium service. Contract concluded on: … Name: … Account email: … Date: … (*) Delete as appropriate.”
An automatic renewal is not a new contract and does not create a new right of withdrawal, but you can always cancel the Subscription at the end of the period.
14. Complaints and conformity with the contract
We are responsible for Gridhunt, including Premium, conforming to the contract throughout the time we supply it. Consumers have the rights set out in Chapter 5b of the Polish Consumer Rights Act (implementing Directive (EU) 2019/770). You can ask us to bring the service into conformity. If that is impossible, isn’t done within a reasonable time, or the lack of conformity is significant, you can ask for a price reduction or withdraw from the contract.
How to complain: email support@gridhunt.app with your account email, a description of the problem, when you noticed it and what you expect. A screenshot helps but isn’t required.
We will reply within 14 days of receiving your complaint, by email. If a consumer gets no reply within that time, the complaint is deemed accepted. You can also report payment issues (e.g. a double charge) to Link support.
For users who are not consumers (and not covered by Article 385⁵ of the Polish Civil Code), statutory warranty liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
15. Availability and changes to the Service
We try to keep Gridhunt running without interruption, but technical breaks, outages at providers (e.g. the cloud or Integrations) and maintenance can happen. We will announce longer planned breaks in the app.
Gridhunt keeps developing, so features may change. We may change how Premium is provided for valid reasons, such as a partner API change, security, legal requirements or product development. Such a change must not cost you anything. If a change significantly and negatively affects your access to or use of Premium, we will tell you in advance. You can then terminate the contract within 30 days of the change and get a refund for the unused paid period (Article 19 of Directive (EU) 2019/770).
In Settings you can turn on test mode (“Start from zero”), which temporarily hides your history from a chosen date. It is meant for trying out the app and deletes nothing.
16. Liability
Gridhunt’s data is for information only. We don’t guarantee that every ride will be counted (this depends, among other things, on GPS accuracy and data from Integrations), or that a planner route is safe, legal or passable. You are responsible for how you move around outdoors.
We are not responsible for services and devices of other companies, or for the consequences of your breaching these terms or the law.
Towards consumers we are liable under the general rules, and nothing in these terms limits rights they have under mandatory law. Towards other users we are liable only for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, up to the fees paid in the last 12 months, and not for lost profits.
17. Deleting your account, suspension and termination
You. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting it ends the contract and erases your data as described in the privacy policy. You can download a copy of your data beforehand. We cancel an active Subscription when you delete your account. There is no refund for the unused period unless sections 13–15 provide otherwise.
Us. We may suspend your account or terminate the contract if you seriously or persistently breach these terms (e.g. by cheating on the leaderboard, uploading illegal content or attacking the Service), after first asking you to stop where possible. We will email you the reason; you can appeal by replying. For other valid reasons (e.g. Gridhunt shutting down) we may terminate the contract with 30 days’ notice. If we terminate for reasons that are not your fault, we refund the proportionate part of the fee for the unused Premium period.
18. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for valid reasons: changes in the law or decisions of authorities, changes to the Service’s features, Integrations or payment providers, or security. We will tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Minor editorial changes that don’t affect your rights may apply sooner. If you don’t accept the changes, you can delete your account or cancel your Subscription before they take effect. Changes never affect the price of the current paid period. The current version is always at gridhunt.app/terms; earlier versions are available on request.
19. Governing law and disputes
The contract is governed by Polish law. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually live. Disputes with consumers are decided by the courts that have jurisdiction under the general rules; an EU consumer can always sue us in the courts where they live.
Out-of-court dispute resolution. Consumers in Poland can get free help from a municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or consumer organisations, ask the regional Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa) for mediation, or go to a permanent consumer arbitration court; details at prawakonsumenta.uokik.gov.pl. For cross-border disputes in the EU, contact the European Consumer Centre in your country (ECC-Net). The EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform closed on 20 July 2025, so we no longer link to it. Out-of-court resolution is voluntary for both sides; please write to us first, and we will consider any proposal.
20. Change history
- 29 September 2026. Data sources: activities obtained through the Strava API are visible only to the account owner; the leaderboard, friends, public links and helping others in the planner use only uploaded files and archives, recordings in the Gridhunt apps and other connected sources; source priority for duplicates; display name set in Gridhunt. Strava API data is kept for at most 7 days unless you upload or record the same activity in Gridhunt; deleting an activity on Strava does not remove your uploaded copy.
- 28 September 2026. New version: full provider details, the Premium plan (Stripe Managed Payments, free trial, renewal, cancellation, price changes), right of withdrawal, complaints, illegal-content notices (DSA), new Integrations and apps, the gridhunt.app address.
- Before: short early-access terms (free service).
