Watch your square grow
Every ride from Strava, a GPX/FIT file or the app turns into claimed tiles. Pick years, switch to “Whole collection” and replay the season day by day on the timeline.
iPhone · Apple Watch · Garmin
Your watch taps your wrist on every new tile, and your iPhone shows your square growing. Connect Strava or upload GPX/FIT — Gridhunt turns every ride and run into claimed tiles, and the planner routes you to the missing ones.

A tile is one cell of the z14 map grid. Its size depends on latitude: about 1.4 km in Denmark, 1.5 km in Poland and 2 km in southern Spain.

HOW IT WORKS
Sign in with Strava or upload GPX, FIT or ZIP files. You can also connect komoot and Wahoo.
Your whole history turns into tiles, usually within minutes. Every new ride adds more.
The planner points out the missing tiles and the route planner builds a loop that collects them.
WHAT GRIDHUNT DOES
Real app screens. Demo rider data: New York City area.

PLANNING
Two planners work together: one tells you which tiles are missing, the other builds a route that collects them.
Click a spot on the map and Gridhunt finds the biggest square you can build there. It skips military areas, enclosures and water, then lists the tiles that block you — and how much each one would grow the square.
Draw an area, set a distance budget and bike profile. The planner builds a loop on real roads, adds detours for missing tiles and exports GPX for your Garmin or watch.
SQUARE PLANNER
Lakes, military zones, fences. Gridhunt shows exactly which tiles block your Big Square and routes you straight to them.
Blockers get numbers. You get a plan.
SEASON
Visited and new tiles, the square of the year, your biggest cluster and goal progress — compared with previous seasons.
This is not a recording. Below runs the same engine that makes 9:16 reels in the app.
Seasons week by week: every new tile flashes, and the biggest square shows up at the end.
Demo data: New York City area — a fictional rider, with rides routed on real roads (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Your reel is made from your rides and saves as an MP4 ready for Stories.

Test yourself on the square leaderboard, invite friends and crack the hard tiles together.

Send friends your invite link. Once you both agree, you see the tiles only you have, only they have and the ones you share, plus your joint square. Routes and targets stay private.

The world map is split into a grid of squares (zoom level 14, the same as other tile tools). A tile is yours once you ride or run through it. A tile is about 1.4 to 2 km across, depending on latitude.
No. You can upload GPX, FIT or ZIP files, connect komoot or Wahoo, or record rides in the iPhone app. Strava is simply the fastest.
Recent rides show up right away and the full history usually within minutes. With thousands of Strava activities it can take a few hours, because Strava limits the number of requests.
Free on iPhone and Apple Watch in the Gridhunt app (coming soon to the App Store). With Premium also on Garmin and Hammerhead Karoo devices, plus navigation along a planned route.
Only you see your routes and targets. The leaderboard and friends only work once you turn them on. You can disconnect Strava at any time and delete your account in settings.
