Browser extension
Your tiles on every route map
Planning a route in Strava, Komoot, MapMyRide or Google Maps? The Gridhunt extension draws your tiles, your current biggest square and the square you’re planning right on that map. You see at a glance where to ride for new ones.
The extension is waiting to be published in the store. Once it’s live, this button will take you straight to it.
Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera on desktop. Firefox and Safari later.
Free during the betaWhat you see on the map
Three layers from your account. Turn each one on or off with a single click in the panel on the map.
Your tiles
Every z14 tile you’ve visited, in blue. The gaps between them are the tiles worth riding for.
Current square
A gold outline around your biggest square. You can see where a route could grow it.
Planned square
The green dashed outline of your Gridhunt target. Plan the route so it picks up the missing tiles.
Where it works
The extension finds the map on the page and draws the overlay in the same place, even while you pan and zoom.

Send a route to Gridhunt
On a Strava route page, click “Send to Gridhunt” in the panel. The route lands in your Routes in Gridhunt, with the number of tiles it collects.
You need Strava connected in Settings → Connections. The extension only passes on the route number from the page address; the Gridhunt server fetches the route through your connection.
Strava routes follow Strava’s rules: they stay in Gridhunt for 7 days, just like a regular import.

How to connect
The extension links to your account with a code, just like a bike computer. No password, and no signing in on other sites.
Install
Add the extension from the store and pin the Gridhunt icon to your browser toolbar.
Click “Connect to Gridhunt”
In the extension popup. A tab opens with your Gridhunt Settings, and the “Code from device” field already holds the code the extension shows.
Confirm
Check that the code matches and click “Connect”. Done: open a route planner and your tiles appear on the map.
Rather type a code?
In Settings → Connections → Devices, click “Connect a device”. In the extension popup, choose “I have a code from Gridhunt” and enter the 6 characters.
Open Settings → DevicesPrivacy
The extension shows your data on other sites’ maps, but does not take your routes or activities from those sites.
- It reads only the map position and the page address there; it does not read your routes, activities or profile. A route ID goes to Gridhunt only when you click Send to Gridhunt.
- No analytics and no telemetry. The extension only talks to Gridhunt.
- It fetches only your tiles, square and target, using a device token you can revoke at any time in Settings → Devices.
- On your computer it keeps only the token, a copy of your tiles, your toggle settings and the panel position.
Questions
Is there a version for Firefox or Safari?
Not yet. We’re publishing in the Chrome Web Store first, which Edge, Brave and Opera install from too. Firefox and Safari will follow.
Does it work on my phone?
No. The extension works in desktop browsers. On your phone, Gridhunt shows your tiles at gridhunt.app and in the apps.
How much does it cost?
Nothing during the beta. The extension is free for every Gridhunt account.
Does it work alongside other tile extensions, such as Squadrats or Statshunters?
Yes. The Gridhunt panel stays clear of their widgets, and you can turn off any layer with one click if the overlays get in each other’s way.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. Choose Demo mode in the extension popup to see sample tiles and squares, no sign-in needed.
Can the extension see my routes on Strava or Komoot?
No. For “Send to Gridhunt” it takes only the route number from the page address. The Gridhunt server fetches the route itself through your Strava or Komoot connection.
