Privacy

Who sees what, why your Strava data is private, and how to export or delete your data.

By default only you see your tiles, rides, routes and targets. Everything else is opt-in.

Who sees what

Only you (default)
Rides, routes, targets and the tile map. Always, including everything fetched through the Strava API.
Friends
Tiles only (yours, theirs and shared) and the shared square, and only after both of you accepted. Routes and targets stay private.
Public link
Your tiles with a timeline, your biggest square and the target progress, without routes. Off until you switch it on. You can replace or disable it.
Leaderboard
If you opt in: your display name (first name and the initial of your surname), avatar, the size and location of your squares and the tiles inside them.
Planner helpers
If you opt in: an anonymous “someone rode here” mark for tiles that are OpenStreetMap obstacles. No routes, dates, names or counts.

Strava data is private

Rides fetched through the Strava API, and tiles and routes calculated from them, are visible only to you. Your Strava name and avatar are never shown to anyone else. That includes activities you set to “Only me” or “Followers” on Strava. These rides are kept for 7 days and are then removed, and disconnecting Strava removes them at once. Your Strava archive ZIP is your own export and is handled like any file you upload. See Import and Data sources.

Reports and crashes

  • Automatic crash reports are sent only with your consent: ask, always or never. In the beta the default is “ask”. Reports are kept for 90 days.
  • A bug report you write yourself can be marked private, so it does not appear on the public list. A screenshot is passed to the team only if you tick the consent box.

Your data

  • Export: Settings → Advanced → “Download all my data (JSON)”.
  • Delete the account: the same page, “Delete account and all data”. Type the confirmation word. This removes the account, activities, tiles, targets and friends and cannot be undone.
  • Disconnect a service (Strava, komoot, Wahoo) in Settings → Connections at any time. What is removed with each service is described in Import.
